Reading Borough Council

Aerelink have recently completed the deployment of the first WiMAX network using the 3.3 GHz spectrum in the UK. The work was performed for the Brighton based ISP, Metranet and Reading Borough Council.

A network using Alvarion’s BreezeMAX base stations and CPEs, covering an area of approximately 10 square kilometers, enable Reading Borough Council to provide wireless backhaul for CCTV cameras (closed circuit TV), and traffic junction control throughout Reading, saving thousands of pounds in leased line circuit rental.

Live video from main roads and junctions is streamed back to a central control room, and traffic lights can then be manually controlled via the WiMAX network to improve traffic flow. Automatic License Plate recognition is also being built into the system.

Angus Council

Design, implementation and maintenance of the entire Authority Wireless Network Point to Point Links encompassing Orthogon Gemini, Alvarion and Wavelength Digital Wireless Systems covering multiple council buildings, Secondary and Primary Schools.


Cheshire County Council

Maintenance and upgrade of a County wide network, with 116 links. This network is a mixture of Alvarion Licence Exempt radio equipment and Ceragon Licenced Microwave technology.


Dundee City Council

Design, Implementation and Maintenance Support of Motorola and Alvarion 5.8GHz Point to Point and Point to Multipoint and Microwave Network covering 10 Secondary and 34 Primary Schools in the Dundee City Area, enabling an approximate saving of 50% of revenue on leased line costs and the doubling of available bandwidth.


Halton Metropolitan Borough Council

Operates two radio links to service the data and voice requirements of the Council’s offices in Widnes and Runcorn. Additionally Aerelink have provided several CCTV over wireless solutions for the Runcorn-Widnes bridge and several remote office locations. Aerelink maintains this CCTV and radio network and has provided the Council with an innovative SLA.


Newcastle City Council

Aerelink have been involved in a pioneering Traffic Management CCTV Project in the City of Newcastle. The 5.8Ghz Alvarion VL Point-to-Multipoint system allows 30 camera locations to communicate with multiple base stations covering the City Centre, Great North Road and North East Corridor. The network is used for traffic flow monitoring around the city, enabling Council Officers to update matrix signs advising commuters on the traffic conditions into and out of the City.


North Yorkshire County Council

Survey and implementation of North Yorkshire County Council Broadband for Schools project. The latest phase "Project Connection" is seeking to maximise the deployment of radio as the means of connecting NYCC premises across the NYC network and achieve a significant reduction in lease lines. Aerelink completed an additional 179 radio surveys between February and May 2006 for “Project Connection. The Implementation project is now in its final phase, with in excess of 200 schools, libraries and council offices connected by wireless.


Pendle Borough Council

Employed Aerelink to supply a licensed microwave radio link to upgrade their bandwidth between their offices in Nelson and Colne.


Perth & Kinross Council

Design, implementation and maintenance of a large scale wireless deployment across the area connecting over 80 schools and public buildings to the corporate network. A combination of Alvarion, Orthogon, and licensed microwave equipment was successfully deployed.


Preston City Council

Combination of Free Space Optics, and point-to-multipoint radio from Alvarion to connect various council buildings.


Stoke City Council

Maintenance and upgrade of a city-wide network with 83 links. Primarily based around Alvarion equipment.


West Lothian Council

Implementation of a large scale Alvarion wireless deployment across the many areas of West Lothian to connect over 100 schools and public buildings to reduce lease line costs.


Westminster City Council’s ambitious Wireless City Project

Aerelink designed and delivered the Soho pilot wireless network in partnership with Skynet Systems, Telindus, Cap Gemini and Vertex using Cisco wireless equipment. The project was so successful that it will now extend from its technical pilot in Soho to include wider parts of the West End and the Churchill Gardens and Lisson Grove housing estates. Skynet Systems are now known as BT iNet a division of BT.


West Lancashire District Council

Aerelink continues to design and install a number of licensed microwave radio and light licensed 5.8Ghz point to multipoint equipment for public office and local authority building connectivity throughout the area.
